Video surveillance and recognition of vehicle number plates

We employ video surveillance on the properties as well as buildings that we use. Recognition of vehicle number plates is also performed on the access road to the property as well as in parking lots.

Details of the processing activity:

1. Video surveillance:

a) Purpose of the processing activity:

Video surveillance is used to exercise, domiciliary rights. Video surveillance is also used to prevent criminal offenses and to preserve evidence in the event of criminal offenses as well as to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

b) Legal basis of the processing activity:

The legal basis for video surveillance is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, the purposes mentioned above constitute our legitimate interest.
Where special categories of personal data are processed, this is performed on the basis of Art. 9(2)(f) GDPR.

c) Recipient / transfer of data:
We transfer data to contracted service providers that perform monitoring tasks for our company.
In the event of suspected criminal acts, we will additionally transfer the data to the law enforcement authorities, if applicable.
In all other events, we will only transfer data if a legal basis for transfer exists. This may apply in particular if the police or other security authorities take active defense action and demand access to the video surveillance data.

2. Vehicle registration number recognition:

While driving onto the company premises or using the parking spaces, the vehicle registration number including the front and rear areas of the vehicle are captured and compared with the internally stored registration numbers.

a) Purpose of the processing activity:

The registration number recognition and the comparison are performed for the purposes of access control.

b) Legal basis of the processing activity.:

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest consists of access control and well as traffic optimization (avoidance of traffic jams).

c) Recipient / transfer of data:
We transfer data to contracted service providers that perform the vehicle number plate recognition for our company.

Data transfer to third countries:

No transmission to third countries is planned.

Period of storage of the personal data:

1. Video surveillance
All video surveillance data is deleted after 72 hours.
Data may be stored for a longer period of time if there are facts that justify the assumption that actions can be seen on recordings from a limited period of time that are to be prosecuted as a criminal offense or used to assert civil law claims.

2. Vehicle registration number recognition
The vehicle registration number acquired during vehicle registration number recognition is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. The vehicle registration number stored in the system for comparison purposes is deleted after the conclusion of the contractual relationship.

Rights of the data subject:

You have the right (in acc. with. Art. 15 GDPR) to obtain from the controller confirmation of the personal data concerning you as well as the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 Abs. 1 GDPR). Furthermore, you have a right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR) as well as the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).

You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of personal data by us.
